A scoping review of 87 studies across 19 countries found that bicycling interventions produce significant positive effects on psychological, social, affective, and cognitive well-being, with improvements in mood, reduced depression, increased social connection, and enhanced cognitive function. The benefits were most pronounced in outdoor, multi-session interventions rather than acute indoor cycling. The review highlights the need for more community-based research to understand how bicycling's unique features—outdoor exposure, social opportunities, and routine—promote holistic wellness across different populations.
