Dua Lipa opens library for banned and censored books in Portugal

Singer Dua Lipa has opened the Manifesto Library in Porto, Portugal's Livraria Lello bookshop, a permanent collection of approximately 100 banned and censored books organized around themes of power, control, voice, and memory. The library features works by authors like Margaret Atwood and Salman Rushdie that have been challenged for content related to race, sexuality, and LGBTQIA+ themes, and Lipa describes it as a space where readers can decide for themselves what books deserve to be read. The initiative grew from Lipa's Service95 Book Club and aligns with her broader advocacy for reading as a tool for freedom and societal imagination.
