The 2026 Fields Medals were awarded to four mathematicians: Yu Deng for advances in partial differential equations and probabilistic methods; John Pardon for contributions to symplectic geometry and topology; Jacob Tsimerman for innovations in arithmetic geometry and proving major conjectures; and Hong Wang for breakthroughs in harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory. The Fields Medal recognizes outstanding mathematical achievement and promise, with funding from a trust established by J.C. Fields at the University of Toronto, supplemented this year by the Fields Institute.
