First Steps of the PLC Organization – Independent Public Ledger of Credentials

The Public Ledger of Credentials (PLC) Organization, announced by Bluesky Social a year ago, has officially been established as a Swiss Association to independently operate the PLC directory system. The PLC directory manages AT Protocol account identifiers and updates (such as handles and hosting information) using cryptographic signatures that prevent tampering. The organization's initial board includes leading security and cryptography experts from companies like Google, Mozilla, and Let's Encrypt, and has completed foundational steps including defining its statute, establishing digital infrastructure, and securing a bank account.
