German defense contractor Rheinmetall has open-sourced the protocol for its Battlesuite connected weapon system, making the onboardapi interface library publicly available for seamless communication between sensor and software systems. The library uses the Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard and supports multiple programming languages including C++, Java, C#/.NET, and Python, enabling interoperability across complex military hardware and software environments while maintaining backward compatibility.
