Kids turned low-traffic NPR Spotify comments into a secret group chat

Kids discovered they could use the low-traffic Spotify comments section on NPR's Wild Card podcast as a secret group chat to communicate with each other. When a show producer noticed unusual comment activity and initially suspected bots, a younger NPR staffer recognized the posts as typical internet behavior from middle schoolers using coded language and inside jokes to coordinate online.
