Researchers have restored striking photographs from the Trinity nuclear test on July 16, 1945, revealing vivid details of the world's first atomic bomb detonation captured by high-speed cameras positioned at various distances from ground zero. The restoration effort, spanning 20 years, recovered images from Berlyn Brixner's cameras in a bunker 10,000 meters away, which documented the fireball's expansion and behavior with unprecedented precision, enabling scientists to measure and analyze the explosion's effects frame by frame. Though only 11 of 52 cameras produced usable images, the strategically placed equipment with different focal lengths and frame rates allowed researchers to piece together a comprehensive visual record of the historic moment.
