No leap second will be introduced at the end of December 2026

The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) announced that no leap second will be added to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) at the end of December 2026. Leap seconds, which adjust UTC to account for Earth's rotational variations, are only introduced when necessary based on the difference between UTC and International Atomic Time (TAI), which currently stands at -37 seconds.
