postmarketOS, a mobile operating system project, has been officially rebranded to Nura after a 18-month selection process. The new name derives from Nuraghe, ancient granite structures in Sardinia that symbolize stability and longevity, reflecting the project's goal of keeping devices functional long-term. The rebrand was motivated by the original name's length, difficulty in pronunciation across languages, awkward capitalization, and limited trademarking potential, which hindered outreach efforts outside the hacker community.
