Show HN: An e-ink frame that hears birds and draws them as 1800s illustrations
Fugleramme is an e-ink display frame for Raspberry Pi that listens to bird sounds through a microphone and automatically identifies species using local AI, then renders them as hand-curated 1800s natural history illustrations on a display. The system uses BirdNET-Go for audio classification and updates the e-ink panel only when detected birds change, while also offering a web interface for viewing. The project includes over 800 public-domain bird illustrations covering more than 400 species and can run entirely locally without cloud connectivity.
