Stanford Medicine researchers found that adopting either permanent standard time or permanent daylight saving time year-round would be significantly healthier than the current biannual clock shifts, with permanent standard time being optimal for most Americans. The study estimates that permanent standard time could prevent approximately 300,000 strokes and 2.6 million cases of obesity by keeping people better synchronized to their natural 24-hour circadian rhythms, which require more morning light and less evening light.
