The European Social Stack

European tech leaders and organizations have signed a declaration to build an independent "European Social Stack"—a decentralized, open-source alternative to monopolistic social media platforms using protocols like Mastodon and Matrix. The initiative aims to restore digital autonomy, create jobs, and protect Europe from foreign political interference while supporting diverse ownership models and business structures across the continent. European governments and institutions are called upon to invest in and prioritize these open European platforms over oligarch-controlled infrastructure.
