The first early human eggs from stem cells

Conception announced it has successfully generated the first early human egg cells from stem cells, converting blood cells into induced pluripotent stem cells and then developing them into miniature human ovaries containing early-stage eggs. While the eggs still need to reach full maturity, this represents a major advance toward in vitro gametogenesis (IVG), a technology that could potentially allow people to produce unlimited healthy eggs from a simple blood draw without hormone injections or surgery. This breakthrough builds on previous success in mice and could significantly expand reproductive options and enable childbearing at older ages.
