Volkswagen has built the Mission Efficiency, a record-breaking electric car with a drag coefficient of 0.158—the most aerodynamic road-legal vehicle ever—that achieved nearly 900 miles of range on a single charge during an officially documented 794-mile drive from Wolfsburg to Vienna. The car achieves these exceptional numbers not through exotic technology but by combining aerodynamic design, weight reduction, and efficient energy use with a standard MEB+ platform and ID. Polo motor and battery. Under real-world driving conditions at an average speed of 42 mph, the Mission Efficiency consumed just 6.89 kWh per 100 km and still had 102 miles of range remaining at its destination.
