Meta repeatedly snubs EU body over Facebook and Instagram user bans

An independent EU dispute body found that Meta rarely provides evidence when challenged on Facebook and Instagram account bans, responding to fewer than 100 of over 4,600 cases despite being legally required to engage in good faith. The report also revealed that major social media platforms fail to remove hate speech in the majority of cases—with TikTok leaving 83% of flagged hate speech up and Instagram 74%—often directly contradicting their own policies.
